Each year, the European Foundation for Environmental Education grants its blue flags to the beaches and ports of much of the world that meet environmental standards of water quality and that guarantee the quality of the services provided, compliance with safety standards and the management of the environment.
The Olympic Port, reinforces each year its environmental section #OlimpicBlue to improve its characteristics and services and bring them to excellent conditions fulfilling the Blue Flag criteria in all its areas: from Information and Environmental Education, to the Environmental Management and Security and Services.
Information and Environmental Education.
Olympic Port has panels with information about the port and its surroundings, along with screens and brochures of prevention and respect for the coastal ecosystem. In addition, each year they organize several related activities with environmental education. This year, during Marina Day, several children’s workshops on environmental awareness and sustainability will be organized; Several games related to sea pollution will also be proposed.
The port has a solid environmental policy and an environmental action plan based on 6 axes: energy, water, wastewater and bilge, waste, sustainable mobility and respect . These are included in the Environment section of the Olympic Port website.
Security and Services.
The Olympic Port has in its facilities rescue and first aid equipment, first aid and fire fighting, adequate and well marked. Even so, every year several courses and safety and rescue trainings are held in the port, by port entities and external agencies. The Blue Flag criteria are more demanding each year and the changes are reviewed and agreed at an international level, by part of the Blue Flag National Operators. For this reason, Olympic Port is proud to announce that it has been recognized, once again, with the prestigious Blue Flag 2019.
